Laois defender Kevin Fitzpatrick has received a four-week ban from the Games Administration Committee of the GAA and will now miss Sunday's All-Ireland quarter-final against Armagh.

The half-back was sent off during the county's recent Leinster final victory over Kildare and will play no part against the All-Ireland champions in Croke Park this weekend.

Fitzpatrick received his marching orders for what referee Seamus McCormack deemed a late challenge on Kildare's Tadgh Fennin. The Laois player arrived at a low ball fractionally late and took Fennin's legs from under him.

Dublin goalkeeper Stephen Cluxton has received an identical suspension. This follows his sending off for kicking Armagh's Steven McDonnell in the All-Ireland qualifier at Croke Park on July 5th. Dublin lost the game by four points.

Dan Gordon of Down was also banned for a month following his dismissal in the Ulster final replay against Tyrone on July 20th.

All suspensions apply from the date of last game.
