Dutchman Bert Konterman scored a spectacular extra-time winner as Rangers defeated rivals Celtic 2-1 at Hampden Park tonight to reach the Scottish League Cup final.

The victory ended Rangers' run of five straight defeats by their old foes and thwarted Celtic's hopes of a second successive premier league, Scottish Cup and League Cup treble.

Konterman crashed a long-range drive into the top corner after 105 minutes to secure Alex McLeish's side a final date with either Hibernian or first division Ayr.

Celtic defender Bobo Balde had earlier cancelled out Peter Lovenkrands' opener for Rangers.
