There have been 652 marriages since 1968 arising from applications to the Marriage Introduction Bureau at Knock, Co Mayo.

During 1995 there were 26 marriages, according to figures from the bureau yesterday. During the year there were applications from 242 men and 179 women. Since 1968, there have "been 7,840 applications from men and 5,750 from women.

A survey by the bureau shows that of the 652 marriages the largest number of men married were between the ages of 36-40 (166). The lowest was between 20-25 (24) and over 60 (15).

The largest number of women to marry were between the ages of 31-35 (185) and between 26-30 (151). The lowest were between 56-60 (27) and over 60 (10).
