Seoul - The North Korean leader, Mr Kim Jong-Il, has named two close confidants to top military posts as the Stalinist state yesterday confirmed that the son of its founding father had assumed the top job. The nominations came two days after Mr Kim became effective head of state, though without ceremonial duties, and before lavish celebrations today to mark his accession and North Korea's 50th anniversary.
