AN IRISHMAN has died following an accident in Brisbane, Australia, yesterday.
The man (24), who is from Arklow, Co Wicklow, fell 4m (13ft) on to his head after losing his balance on a pub railing.
Police said the man, who has not yet been named, was standing on the railing of the Beach House Bar and Grill at Upper Mount Gravatt at about 2am yesterday when he slipped and fell to the ground.
He suffered severe head injuries and was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition.
Police in Brisbane confirmed his death yesterday afternoon.
The man’s family in Ireland has been notified of his death. The Irish consulate is assisting them.
Local police said there were no suspicious circumstances.
A police spokeswoman said its investigation into the matter “is almost complete”.
"We will be submitting a report to the coroner," she told The Irish Times.
