More than half the people now immigrating to Ireland are of Irish nationality with only 10 per cent of immigrants from countries outside the EU or US, according to the Central Statistics Office.

More Irish people are returning from Britain than are going to live there. Recent increases in immigration which has been increasing in recent years, stabilised last year.

While 40 per cent of Irish emigrants went to Britain, 48 per cent of Irish people returning home came from there.
