Fifty-nine Irish haemophiliacs have settled their eight-year case against five multinational drug companies in a deal believed to be worth at least £5 million.
The group took the case against some of the world’s biggest drug companies, including Bayer and Baxter Healthcare Corp, after they became infected with HIV through using their contaminated blood products.
Full details of the deal are not being disclosed. Of the 60 people who took the case only one has chosen not accept the settlement. The other 59 are expected to receive at least £30,000 each.
