Irish fishing boat arrested off Co Cork coast

An Irish-registered fishing vessel has been arrested off the coast of Co Cork for alleged illegal fishing offences.

An Irish-registered fishing vessel has been arrested off the coast of Co Cork for alleged illegal fishing offences.

The Deborah Mwas apprehended by the Naval patrol ship, LE Ciara, south-west of Mizen Head. It was escorted by the Naval Service to Baltimore, Co Cork.

The ship is to be investigated for alleged offences relating to under-recording, logbook infringements and exceeding fish quotas.

A total of 12 fishery detentions have been carried out by the Naval Service this year, with the majority being Irish-registered vessels.
