Inter county footballer killed in road accident

A 23-year-old man who died after a road crash near Roscommon town overnight has been named as Gerard Michael Grogan.

A 23-year-old man who died after a road crash near Roscommon town overnight has been named as Gerard Michael Grogan.

Mr Grogan was a passenger in a pick-up truck died which crashed shortly before 4.30 a.m. There were no other vehicles involved.

Mr Grogan was a member of the Roscommon senior inter-county football panel. The National Football League match between Roscommon and Galway, due to be played at Dr Hyde Park, Roscommon this afternoon was postponed following news of his death.
