TURKISH AUTHORITIES are continuing their investigation into the death of a 20-year-old Co Mayo woman in an apartment fall in Turkey at the weekend.

The remains of Mary Linnane, a student nurse, are expected to be flown home for burial in the next few days.

Meanwhile, Turkish police have completed the process of taking statements from each of the 11 friends who were accompanying Ms Linnane to the popular resort of Kusadasi on her first foreign holiday.

The group are said to be "absolutely devastated" by the loss of their much-loved friend.

They are expected to fly back to Ireland together today.

The entire Erris community has united in support of the bereaved family, her parents, Martin and Kathleen, and her five siblings, four girls and a boy.

Ms Linnane, a student nurse at Dublin City University, came from a sporting family.

Her father played senior inter-county hurling with Galway and she was a niece of the former Galway All Star Syvlie Linnane.
