Bombay - India's navy is in a high state of preparedness for combat in the Arabian Sea foll owing growing tensions with Pakistan in the disputed region of Kashmir, a naval chief admiral has said. He said the navy shifted its routine exercises from the Bay of Bengal on the east coast to the Arabian Sea because India's conflict with Pakistan over Kashmir could spill over into the sea.

India said yesterday it expected the Group of Eight nations, who meet at the weekend, to understand that Pakistan must honour a military line of control in disputed Kashmir.
