India has asked the British government to return the Koh-i-Noor diamond, part of the Crown jewels that are stored in the Tower of London, after demands by Indian MPs for the restoration of the 105.6 carat diamond to its "rightful owners", Rahul Bedi writes from Delhi.
"If the British can consider returning the Elgin Marbles to Greece, why not the Koh-i-noor?" said Mr Kuldip Nayar MP, a former Indian high commissioner in London, who is behind the campaign for the return of the diamond. Expatriate Indians have also formed a committee in London for the return of relics to India.
