Top Leaving Cert pupil selling notes

Interest is growing in the work of an A-grade Leaving Cert student who has put his study notes up for sale on the online auction website Ebay.

One bidder has offered €1,000 for a set of notes offered by Co Clare student Cillian Fahy.

Cillian (18), who sat his exams at Gort Community School in Galway, scored seven As and now hopes to attend Trinity College Dublin to study English, literature and mathematics.

A total of 57 people had bid on his French notes last night, driving the price up to €1,070 with still three days to go before the bidding closes.

Twelve bidders have so far shown interest in his English notes, which were valued at €141.50 last night, and 21 bids had been lodged for his Irish notes, pushing the price up to €81.50. He has also put his history, music and maths notes up for sale.

Cillian said the idea behind the auction was to make money to finance college.

"Thousands of euro is spent in this country on grind classes when the main advantage of these classes is simply the notes," he said.

"With the economy as it is, I think students in particular need to be resourceful and clever in making money."
