The Irish Farmers Association has announced that it is to use its network of branches tub help gardai beat crime in rural areas, following a meeting with the Garda Commissioner,
Culligan yesterday.
At the meeting, the IFA president, Mr John Donnelly, expressed the widespread fear and anger in the rural community over the recent spate of vicious attacks in rural Ireland.
The IFA had agreed to draw up a full inventory of isolated elderly and other vulnerable people for the Garda authorities.
