The IDA has launched a programme to enable the development of childcare facilities in business parks around the country with a view to increasing the number of people returning to work.
Already, the IDA has identified six of it existing business parks which will benefit from the programme, but it is expected that others will be added to the list.
The agency is inviting proposals from childcare providers for the design, construction and financing of the facilities.
Speaking at the launch to the programme this morning the Tánaiste, Mary Harney, said the facilities were essential if the business parks were to attract foreign investment.
"Enabling the provision of quality childcare services will benefit both employers and employees and thereby enhance the attractiveness of the IDA Parks to international investors," she said.
"IDA Ireland also see this initiative as building on it current strategy of delivering more balanced development in the regions."
The new facilities will also provide:
- pre-school and after-school care for children of school-going age
- holiday and back-up childcare
- sessional services
