Staff at ICT Eurotel's call centre in Belmullet, Co Mayo, have been told that their jobs are safe.
However up to 50 of the 140 workers at the company are to be put on a four-day week.
Staff were briefed by management last night amid reports the group was considering a major downsizing of its operation in Mayo amid increased competition from abroad and a weakening dollar.
Workers are understood to have been assured by senior executives that the company is in a strong position financially, however, and that there was no question of a closure or job losses.
