Several hundred protesters gathered at the Dáil this afternoon to call for the restoration of services at the County Hospital in Monaghan.
Protesters have been campaigning for the retention of services at their local hospital for a number of years.
However, the campaign was stepped up in September following the publication of a report into the death of Pat Joe Walsh, who bled to death at the hospital when doctors there were unable to perform emergency surgery on him.
Protesters, many of whom travelled from Monaghan, gathered at the Dáil at noon for the protest which lasted until 2pm.
