Iarnrod Eireann is hopeful train drivers will resume deliveries of ammonia to the Irish Fertiliser plant in Arklow today, writes Padraig Yeates. The plant is threatened with closure because it has not received supplies for over a week. Other services are expected to operate at a similar level to last week At the weekend there were discussions between Iarnrod Eireann and SIPTU to address grievances of union members who have been refusing to pass Irish Locomotive Drivers' Association collectors outside Kent station, Cork.

Irish Congress of Trade Union sources have rejected media reports yesterday that it intended to intervene in the two-week dispute between Iarnrod Eireann and the ILDA.
