A court in Derry was told yesterday that the home of a man, who has been charged with indecent exposure in last month, was damaged in a pipe bomb attack last week.
Frank Callaghan (68) appeared in court on July 4th charged with committing the offence in Brooke Park the previous day.
He was released on bail but on Monday of last week his Glenbank Road home was damaged in a no-warning pipe bomb explosion. His solicitor, David Brewster, said that after the bombing Mr Callaghan had been moved to emergency Housing Executive accommodation.
Before the bomb attack, Mr Callaghan is alleged to have returned to Derry on July 21st, against the conditions of his bail release not to go to public places, and gone to a bookmaker’s premises where he allegedly committed a similar offence again. After his arrest, his bail for the original offence was revoked and he was taken into custody.
At a video link hearing yesterday, Mr Callaghan was remanded in continuing custody until August 22nd.
