The Park Runs sound like a good early winter idea to keep ticking over. The organisers describe them as taking place in “pleasant parkland surroundings and we encourage people of every ability to take part; from those taking their first steps in running to Olympians; from juniors to those with more experience”.
Over 5k next Saturday, there are four in Belfast, three elsewhere in Ulster and one in the grounds of Malahide Castle.
For more details, see parkrun.ie.
Meanwhile, in Castlefreke, Co Cork, on Sunday, there’s another 5k, this one with a different view.
The Fun Run by the Sea costs a fiver for walkers and a tenner for runners, and further details can be found via runireland.com.
