Britain's Olympic super-heavyweight champion Audley Harrison is to base himself in Las Vegas from next year to help progress his professional career after unimpressive displays in his first three fights.

Currently based in London, Harrison decided to act upon the advice of respected American trainer Thel Torrance who warned that the British fighter needed the tougher environment of U.S. gyms for his career to progress.

In an article published in Tuesday's Daily Telegraph, Harrison said that he was likely to make the transition next June to embark on the "second phase" of his professional career.

The 30-year-old added that until then, he intended to fight "every four to five weeks" at various venues around Britain to fulfil a 10-fight contract with the BBC.

Following Harrison's most recent win - a two-round demolition of Polish journeyman Piotr Jurczyk 10 days ago - Torrance said that although he had a unique style, the British fighter needed to undertake a more rigid schooling in Las Vegas to reach his full potential.

"I brought Thel on board with America on mind. America for me is where I am going to dominate in the second phase of my professional career.

"I will definitely be more America-based than Britain-based for that stage," Harrison said.
