More than one in 10 employees in Northern Ireland has suffered sectarian harassment at work, according to a recent survey carried out on behalf of the Fair Employment Commission (FEC).

The FEC, which published guidelines to combat sectarian harassment, also reported that intimidation intensified following the Drumcree stand-off. The problem appeared to be greater for men than for women. Nearly one in four Catholic men experienced harassment, compared to 13 per cent of Protestants. Most respondents had not reported the harassment, although the level of complaints had increased.
