says he may not play in the Champions League if Turkish authorities ban him for the rest of the domestic season, newspapers said today.

The Romanian midfielder Hagi spat at a referee and stamped on his feet after a goal was disallowed last weekend. He faces a ban of up to six months when the disciplinary authorities rule on the incident next week.

"I have achieved a lot for both Galatasaray and Turkish football in general. If they hand down a punishment that ends my season I might not take any further part in the Champions League," the Sabahnewspaper quoted the 35-year-old as saying.
