Ground staff at Aer Lingus tonight rejected the airline’s €10 million cost-cutting plans.
It is the second time the Siptu members have dismissed the management’s proposals.
National industrial secretary Gerry McCormack said it was clear that local talks did not reach an acceptable conclusion in all areas of the operation.
"While Siptu regrets the rejection of these proposals, which were recommended for acceptance by shop stewards, it is clear that members view them as a step too far, given the changes sought by the company and profits announced in excess of €80 million,” he added.
The 1,800 staff represented by the union previously voted to take industrial action if their bosses tried to implement the reforms without union agreement.
The airline has already made deals with its pilots and cabin crew in a bid to cut operating costs.
Aer Lingus said it will consider its position over the coming days.
