Cairo - Four German tourists, exhausted after a three-day-long hostage ordeal in Egypt's southern town of Luxor, were recovering in Cairo yesterday after their lone captor surrendered to police.

Mr Christoph Paning, Mr Marco Wedekind, Mr Ralf Laue and Mr Peter Nowotnick were abducted on Monday by Mr Ibrahim Ali, an Egyptian tour company employee who sought to use them as pawns in a child custody battle with his estranged German partner, Ms Heike Ritter.
