A chief superintendent has been appointed to review the case of ex-Irish Republican Socialist Party member Mary Reid (50) following discussions with her family.

Ms Reid 's body was found on a beach at the Isle of Doagh in 2002. An inquest later returned a verdict of death by drowning, but her family always contested this finding.

Ms Reid was arrested in Paris in 1982 on terror charges but was later cleared on appeal.
