Gardaí in Clifden are appealing for information that could help them identify the body of a man found in Connemara, writes Michelle McDonagh.

The body was discovered by members of a hunting party on Friday afternoon in a wooded area close to the shores of Lough Inagh in the Inagh Valley.

Supt Noel Kelly said a postmortem at the weekend ruled out foul play, but was unable to provide a definitive time and cause of death or an age for the man.

Gardaí believe the man, who was found sitting against a tree, may have died from natural causes and exposure. Anybody with any information can contact Clifden Garda at 095-22500.
