Gardai in Co Monaghan are searching for three armed men who attacked and attempted to rob a 60-year-old man in a wheelchair at his isolated home in Silverstream, Monaghan, near the Co Armagh border. The man was attacked when he returned home from a bingo session at 11.30 p.m. on Wednesday. The attackers demanded money. One of the youths threatened to shoot him, but the man refused to tell them anything.
The three men, who wore balaclavas, escaped emptyhanded in a Northern Ireland-registered car. Gardai are appealing for help in apprehending the men.
