Gardai are still investigating the accident which led to the death of Sgt Jack Whelan at the Curragh Camp, Co Kildare, on Friday.
He was trapped in his over turned fire tender which was responding to what turned out to be a hoax call. Sgt Whelan, who was married and a father of three, was a founder member of the soldiers' union, PDFORRA.
