Funding of €600,000 for the regeneration of one of Cork's oldest streets will include a one-way system diverting southbound traffic.

Scenes from Frank McCourt's Angela's Ashes were filmed along the narrow alleys off Barrack Street, which is to be repaved and restructured to enhance its historic value. Cork City Council secured funding for the regeneration having applied to the Department of Transport.
