Four Irishmen are preparing to drive 16,000km across three deserts, five mountain ranges and seven time zones from Dublin to Mongolia in aid of charity.
The 23-year-olds will attempt to drive a Hyundai Getz 1L, in the Mongol Rally, which they acknowledge is unsuitable for the task.
However, the annual rally, which involves hundreds of amateurs, limits car engine sizes to about one litre.
David Collins, Tom Fletcher, Johnny Cullen from Dublin and James Fox from Meath will drive through 21 countries during their six- to seven-week journey.
Mr Fox is a film-maker and will be making a documentary from the footage.
They are doing it in aid of two charities: Lotus Children’s Centre and the Irish Cancer Society. The Mongol Number 5 team is leaving Dublin on Thursday and their progress can be followed on Twitter @MongolNumber5.
