Two pedestrians, a motorist and a motorcyclist  have been killed in road traffic incidents in Cos Limerick, Kildare, Clare and Fermanagh.

A woman (24) died after when the car she was driving was involved in a collision with another car at Rockhill, Bruff, Co Limerick at around 10am this morning.

The male driver of the other car was taken to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

The dead woman's body was removed to Limerick Regional Hospital. The road has been closed and diversions are in place.

Last night, a 45-year-old man was hit by a van at Baltracey, Donadea, Naas, Co Kildare. He has been named as William Lanigan from Mountarmstrong, Co Kildare. The incident is being investigated by gardaí from Kilcock.

Later, another pedestrian was killed when he was knocked down in Ennis, Co Clare. John Fitzgibbon (60) from Tulla Road, Ennis, was struck by a car at Lifford Road at around 9pm.

He was pronounced dead at the scene. Gardaí from Ennis are investigating.

A total of 273 people have been killed on the Republic's roads so far this year.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died after he was involved in collision with a car on the Lough Shore Road between Enniskillen and Belleek in Co Fermanagh last night.

Gardaí tonight named the man who died in a two-car crash in Moate, Co Westmeath early yesterday morning as Cyril O'Reilly (66) Pinewood Park, Rathfarnham, Dublin.

Two women hurt in the same crash are still in hospital at Tullamore where their conditions are described as not life threatening.
