LONDON - Transport union workers at Ford's threatened Halewood plant on Merseyside voted yesterday to fight plans to cut 1,300 jobs.

Unions fear that the company's plans to give production of a new Escort to Spanish and German plants could spell eventual doom for the factory and its entire 4,500 strong workforce.
