Dublin workers were hit with a further jobs blow today as it emerged that 81 jobs are to go at a Finglas plant.
The PCDEL factory in north Dublin is to close, and plans are already being made to shift the business to Eastern Europe. Company executives at the firm's parent company in the United States are blaming unacceptable financial losses for the move.
The latest news comes a matter of days after Jacobs Fruitfield threatened to close down its operations in Tallaght, with the loss of 300 jobs. Talks are under way in a bid to save the plant.
Elsewhere in the country, it was announced yesterday that 40 jobs are to go at the Oasis Watercoolers manufacturing plant in Ballina, Co Mayo.
