FIFA executive committee members said today they intend to sue their president Sepp Blatter within the next 48 hours for "misuse of funds".
UEFA president Lennart Johansson confirmed today they would be taking Blatter to a Swiss court following a report by FIFA general-secretary, Michel Zen-Ruffinen, in which mismanagement by Blatter is alleged.
Johansson said the committee members felt that they had "no choice" but to contact Swiss legal authorities following reciept of the report.
In making his statement this afternoon, Johansson pointed out that under Swiss law if individuals were aware of criminal acts but withheld information from the authorities then they themselves could face charges.
