Only one in 20 senior managers in dairy co operatives are women, according to a survey by the Employment Equality Agency. The survey found men outnumber women by four to one in the industry and only one in 10 production workers is a woman.
It also found that, although women constitute 25 per cent of those holding science and technological qualifications, they currently represent only 9 per cent of middle managers with science and technological skills.
