A former Sinn Fein member of Derry City Council appeared in court in Derry yesterday charged in connection with the seizure of contraband alcohol. Mr Hugh Brady (42) of Francis Street, is jointly charged with his brother Mr Robert Brady (41) of Upper Nassau Street and Mr Owen Deehan, of Upper Galliagh Road, with fraudulently evading duty on 1,678 cases of vodka on February 21st.

All three defendants were remanded on bail of £5,000 plus one surety of £10,000 to appear before the city's magistrate's court on June 19th.
