Brussels - The European Commission said yesterday its first consignment of emergency fuel aid aimed at bolstering Yugoslavia's fragile new democracy would arrive in the country today.

A convoy of 20 trucks, each carrying 23 tonnes of heating fuel, would cross from Bosnia into Serbia at around noon, the Commission said in a statement. A further 20 convoys were due to follow on a daily basis through the next month, it added.
