A former RUC constable who was blinded in an IRA bomb attack 25 years ago said yesterday that he had no problem with former loyalist and republican paramilitary prisoners receiving EU grant aid.

Mr Charlie McConaghy was speaking in Derry where the Disabled Police Officers' Association received a grant from the District Partnership Group under an EU-sponsored programme. Organisations representing former prisoners have received £80,000 sterling.
