British and Irish Lions back row star Eric Miller has been forced out of the Ireland squad for this month's World Cup qualifier against Russia, it was confirmed today.
Miller missed last weekend's friendly win over Romania with a rib injury and also withdrew from the Leinster team to play Connacht in tonight's Celtic League clash in Dublin.
Having taken further medical advice, the former Leicester Tiger was today withdrawn from the Ireland squad to travel to Krasnoyarsk, Siberia, for the qualifying tie against Russia on September 21st.
Miller is replaced by fellow Leinster forward Victor Costello.
Leinster boss, Matt Williams, meanwhile has been confirmed as Ireland A coach for this season.
Williams guided the A team to a Triple Crown and was only denied a Grand Slam by France in their final match. He will once again be assisted by Connacht coach Steph Nel.
