English cricketer dies on club tour

Sussex all-rounder Umer Rashid has drowned during a pre-season tour of the West Indies, the English county said today.

Sussex said in a statement on their website that Rashid's brother, Burhan, had also died in the incident. "The club is in a state of shock after hearing of the tragic deaths of Umer Rashid and his brother Burhan," the statement said.

"The two were involved in a drowning accident while on a day off in Grenada during a pre-season tour with Northamptonshire and Yorkshire. We have no more details of the accident at this time".

It is the second tragedy to hit English cricket in 10 days following the death of Surrey and England all-rounder Ben Hollioake in a car crash in Perth, Australia, last month.
