An investigation was launched today after a man was killed as he worked on electricity lines in Co Down.

An investigation was launched today after a man was killed as he worked on electricity lines in Co Down.

The contractor was working on behalf of Northern Ireland Electricity at Mill Road in Annalong when he died.

The company said it was launching an internal inquiry into the death, while working with the police and the Health and Safety Executive to establish the details of the incident.

Mr Billy Graham, the Chief Operating Officer of NIE, said: "Everyone in Northern Ireland Electricity is deeply saddened by this event."
