Twelve student leaders will get a chance to examine conflict transformation this year. As part of its student community relations programme, the NUS-USI Student Movement in Northern Ireland has EU funding for an exchange with youth organisations in Croatia and Serbia. There are eight places for students from Northern Ireland and four for students from the Republic. The programme will include training in mediation and facilitation, local community visits and cultural activities. Experiment in International Living (Cork), Youth Peace Group (Danube) and the Belgrade Post-Pessimists are partner organisations in the project. Groups will work in the local contexts of Northern Ireland and the former Yugoslavia, meeting politicians, community workers and those directly affected by the conflicts. The NUS-USI group will travel to the Balkans at the end of August. The closing date for applications is March 26th. Information: Brian Slevin or Peter O'Neill at (028) 90244641.
