To help celebrate 1999 as the International Year of Older Persons, the Irish Museum of Modern Art at Kilmainham has mounted an exhibition of over 60 artworks created by a group of older people living nearby in the Inchicore area of Dublin. The exhibition aims to celebrate older people's creativity and to reflect their involvement with contemporary visual art at the Museum.

During the exhibition members of the exhibiting group from St Michael's parish will be available to discuss their work with visitors. The Museum's education and community department has worked with a core group from the parish since 1991. This connection has involved the parish group visiting exhibitions at the Museum, meeting artists exhibiting there and taking part in a series of practical workshops on materials, processes and techniques.

All are welcome to visit the exhibition which is called ...And Start To Wear Purple. Information is available from Philomena Byrne or Rowena Neville - phone (01) 612 9900.
