Irish Television Seminar

Looking Back and Looking Forward: 10 Years of TG4 - Celebration and Analysis is the title of a one-day seminar to mark the 10th anniversary of the Irish language television station TG4. The seminar will be held on Saturday, November 25th in the National University of Ireland, Galway.

The seminar will be opened by Cathal Goan, former director of TG4 and the director-general of RTÉ, as well as the current TG4 deputy director, Pádhraic Ó Ciardha.

The event is aimed at independent producers, academics working in Irish, communications, journalism or other fields, public servants, and educationalists in general.

Although the event will be held in Irish, full translation into English is offered and those who do not speak Irish are particularly welcome to attend.

UCD Smurfit School of Business Open Evening

The UCD Smurfit School of Business open evening is taking place on Monday, November 6th at UCD Smurfit School, Carysfort Avenue, Blackrock, Co Dublin. Registration will commence at 4pm. Lunchtime Lecture at the Hunt Museum Limerick

Una Hunt, concert pianist, will give a lecture on the life and work of the Limerick-born pianist and composer George Alexander Osborne on Tuesday, November 7th at 1pm in the Hunt Museum, Limerick.

Arguably the leading Irish pianist-composer of his time, Osborne was born in Limerick in 1806 and died in London in 1893. While his compositions would have enjoyed widespread popularity and recognition during his lifetime, his name has fallen into obscurity. Admission free.

Interview Preparation Seminar for Post-Graduate Course in Primary Teaching

The seminars will be held on December 3rd and 10th, and will deal with interview technique for the Irish oral and English interview and provide full sample answers for the questions the panel usually asks. There will be individual Irish interview plus post-interview analysis.
