SIX students from the Sacred Heart School in Ballyshannon, Co Donegal, participated in the photography workshop held in conjunction with the fourth Press Photographers Fuji annual meeting, held in Bundoran earlier this month.

After less than two hours out shooting with professional photographers, the students - Rachel Duffy, Simone Flannery, Lorraine McGee, Breege Feely, Rhonda McGovern and Eilis Whoriskey - produced a selection of photographs, some of which are reproduced here. The film was processed on the same day by Fuji and the work assessed by the professionals for the girls that evening. All had done photography in their Transition Year with teacher Brendan Rooney.

The girls used the photographer's equipment. "Timing the shot was the most difficult aspect," Rachel said, after learning more about lenses and speed.

"I've decided I'm going to get a really good camera. I have a yearning to be a photographer," reported Lorraine. "The choice of lenses was brilliant," said Eilis, who did work experience in Fuji in Letterkenny last year.
