TEACHERS WILL have an opportunity to grapple with the media monster at a meeting run by the Teachers' Association for Media Education this Saturday. Mary Banotti, MEP, will be among the speakers.

TAME was founded in 1984 to provide information and courses for teachers involved in media studies at school.

Pat Larkin, the association's PRO, says a number of courses have been run by TAME in the last 10 or so years in order to provide teachers with information and a forum to discuss issues that arise in classrooms.

TAME has over 100 members, plus a large number of associated members. Saturday's meeting, at the Irish Film Centre, Eustace Street in Dublin's Temple Bar, is open to "any teacher who sees the need for media studies in school", such as art teachers and Transition Year teachers. The afternoon kicks off at 2.30 p.m., with the association's agm to follow.
