The Dundrum Town Centre in south Dublin will employ up to 4,000 people and generate more than €130 million each year in tax returns to the Exchequer, according to the project's director.
Just one week before the €850 million first phase is opened to the public, the Centre's director, Mr Don Nugent, said the development will result in a wage bill of over €100 million.
He said rates in excess of €20 million will be paid annually to Dún Laoghaire Rathdown County Council.
Mr Nugent said: "For the people on the team, this represents a fantastic opportunity to be involved, from the start, in a unique retail and leisure destination for Ireland that will set new standards and compare with the very best in Europe.
"There is a real buzz of excitement amongst the 4,000-strong team as we get closer to sharing the vision of Dundrum Town Centre with the people for whom it has been designed and built."
The Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, Mr Martin, said the new development proved the economy was still growing.
"Dundrum Town Centre is a symbol of the Irish economy's strength whereby consumer demand, workforce availability, commercial partnership and sheer entrepreneurship have all combined to deliver a world class development," he said.
