Some £3.5 million has been allocated by the Government to 16 local drug task-force projects for the construction of new premises.
Yesterday saw the first allocation of funding under the Premises Initiative announced in the Budget, whereby £10 million is being provided over three years to help drug projects meet their accommodation needs.
The recipients are: Ballymun Community Addiction Centre (£800,000); Mountview-Blakestown Community Drug Team (£30,000); Inchicore Community Drug Team (£260,000); Hesed House Family Support Programme (£150,000); Clondalkin Addiction Support Programme (£400,000); Youth Support Training Unit/Clondalkin Drugs Task Force (£90,000); Mahon Action Youth Project (£100,000); Addiction Response Crumlin (£20,000); Moatview-Fairfield Rehabilitation and Support Group (£60,000); Bonnybrook-Fairview Community Building Project (£502,000); Anna Liffey Drug Project (£240,000); the Cavan Centre (£63,000); Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Outreach Project (£75,000); CARP, Killinarden (£400,000); JADD, Jobstown (£250,000); and St Aengus Community Action Group (£70,000).
