A drug addict who killed a priest in 1981 and later went to live with a social worker he twice threatened to kill is back in custody charged with intent to inflict serious bodily harm on her.

Alan Murray (34) was jailed for seven years in January 2000 for threatening to kill a drug rehabilitation volunteer, Ms Rachael Kennedy, with whom he had formed a relationship. He was released last November by Judge Elizabeth Dunne after just 10 months on condition that he was to reside once more with Ms Kennedy.

Judge Dunne has now remanded Murray in custody to appear at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court on May 1st next in relation to new charges.
